About ยท 3D Geomatic Services

Surveyors first. Processors second.

Most survey firms we talk to are not short on field capacity, they are short on the hours it takes to turn a scan into a deliverable. That is the actual gap we fill. We grew up doing the field work ourselves, which is the reason our modeling holds up, not a substitute for it, and we have been doing this since 2015.

Milestones

How we Got Here.

When Where Note
2007 India Elcome Technologies (our prior parent company) along with Leica Geosystems launches the first laser scanner in India, the Cyrax 2500
2009 India Plant Engineering & Geomatic Services (PEGS) is born as a full service 3d laser scanning and surveying company, built to serve the Indian market and proliferate LiDAR technology across the region.
2012 Global PEGS starts to execute projects across the region, taking on laser scanning projects in Northern Africa, South East Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe.
2015 USA 3DGS is born in Oakland, CA with a focus on utilizing the drafting and modeling expertise that was built in India to serve surveying companies across the US.
2020-2022 Global The Covid pandemic puts a damper on the surveying work in India, but many of our customers around the world were allowed to continue work under essential services, so 3DGS continued to provide meaningful output during these times
2024 USA 3DGS moves from headquarters in California to Washington state. The bay area is beautiful but the pacific northwest has a charm of its own!
2026 USA 3DGS gets a brand new look and feel, same surveying crew, fresh look.
Why it matters

"Your point clouds aren't being processed by draftsmen. They're being processed by surveyors."

Most of the firms offering point cloud processing services today have never held a scanner. This practice ran the first commercial laser scanning operation in India, at a point when almost nobody in the country had bought a scanner and total stations were still the default. Half of every meeting back then was spent explaining what a point cloud even was. We have watched this market go through its own highs and lows since, and we reason about where it is headed the same way you probably do. Since then we have run projects end to end, field acquisition through final deliverables, in 21 countries, on Leica, Riegl, Faro and Trimble kits.

That history shows up in what we catch. We spot registration issues, control problems and bad scans before they turn into bad deliverables, because we have made those mistakes ourselves and had to drive back to site to fix them. We know the difference between a capture that is clean and one that looks fine now and causes an argument three steps later.

It also shows up in how we work with a firm over time. Some clients call us during a busy quarter, for one job, and that is exactly what they need. Others have used us as their only modelling team for years, because they never needed to build one in-house. We are set up for both, but of course prefer the latter!

How we work

The same standard, regardless of deliverable.

How we quote

Nobody outside this team touches a file between your data and your client's desk. There is no subcontractor chain and no junior queue you can't see into: the person scoping the job, the person modelling it and the person who signs off on QA are on the same roster, working the same files. That is why the cap on the quote holds, and why revisions to reach your client's sign-off don't turn into a change order later. It is a deliberate choice, not a staffing limit, and we have grown slowly enough on purpose to keep it that way.

LiDAR only, terrestrial-led with aerial support. Not photogrammetry, and we will tell you plainly when a job needs a different pipeline than the one we run, rather than take the work and figure it out on your time.

Where we work

Headquartered in the US. Built as an international practice.

3D Geomatic Services is headquartered in Washington State and built as an international operation from the outset. The delivery team runs the survey and processing practice from India, and the work itself has reached 21 countries: laser scanning of a Unilever manufacturing facility in Indonesia, registration and modelling at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, heritage documentation at the Taj Mahal, terrain and volumetric mapping for mining operations, and corporate campuses and hotels across the United States. Contracting, communication and delivery all run through the US entity. Nothing passes through a subcontractor chain, and every file that reaches your client came through us.

If your project is in the United States, overlap with your working day is built into how we scope an engagement, not something worked out after the fact. You will have hours where the team is live and reachable, with updates the rest of the time so nothing sits waiting on a call.
